Ask HN: Was Daisie app successful in its marketing approach?

TechCrunch: "Actress Maisie Williams to launch Daisie, a social app for talent discovery and collaboration."

Maisie Williams started advertising Daisie before it came out, a huge number of people were waiting for it to be released, but after the release, I found out they probably can't keep up with the traffic load so they started to queue up users outside the app, and after sometime I got in and I saw an app similar to Instagram but slower and with a lot of bugs.

Also, they only released an IOS app.

I personally think a lot of advertising energy and potential is going to waste!

I've noticed that when I ask other seniors questions I don't know the answers of, or that I even know the answers of but just want to make sure(the case most of the time),

they immediately start thinking they're better than me, they start questioning any technical decision I make in a humiliating way,

How can I talk with other seniors without them feeling superior over the long-run?

I was about to say the same thing.

Think of the username.micro.blog pages as your personal home page, like a Wordpress or Squarespace blog site. They're a hosting option for people who aren't tech-savvy enough to setup an RSS feed / 280-char micro-post RSS feed on their own site, or just don't want the hassle of maintaining that setup.

I believe others have tried posting similar XSS into a Micro.Blog post, and it gets filtered out in the timeline feed that followers read, whether on the site or via 3rd party clients. (Now if someone proves that wrong, that would be a big deal.)

I believe the base account where you can choose a username and add your rss feed is free. I've never paid, but it shows up that there are options to pay $2 for cross posting, $5 for a hosted micro blog, or $10 for a hosted microblog + microcast(podcast?) hosting.

I think the whole premise is that if you a have a blog with an RSS feed, you can add it and it'll show up in micro.blog as concatenated posts, or you can take extra steps to make sure your blog supports the small post formats or whatever. There's a little guide to setting up wordpress here - http://help.micro.blog/2018/setting-up-wordpress/

The hard part for me is motivating myself to actually get my blog up and running because I have VPS's for so many other things that it seems silly for me to also pay for micro.blog hosting when I could just get my blog together.

Hello. After I created scripts to turn my own travel blog into a book I decided that the results were good enough that it would be useful to other people.

It supports wordpress, blogger and squarespace which covers a large percentage of personal blogs (but a much smaller percentage of technical blogs).

This is my first real web development effort so all and any feedback is gratefully received!

A little off topic, but what software does YC develop?

Obviously there's HN, Bookface, and there's probably a bit of web development that needs doing for things like the Top 100 companies list, is there much else?

More generally, I realise that YC is a tech incubator so they're likely to develop software for things that other companies wouldn't, but do they really need a dev team? The blog could be Wordpress/etc, HN and Bookface could be Discourse. Is it all being over-engineered? Is there a large dev team where other organisations of a similar size might have one or two IT people?

The conclusion that sites installing the Classic Editor won't adopt to Gutenberg has a logical flaw. The Classic Editor is also used for sites, that are not "ready" for Gutenberg because it uses plugins that haven't gone through a full compatibility tests or where the site owner decided not to jump on the first version of WordPress 5.0 and waits until the kinks are out, say until 5.0.2 or 5.0.3. So there might be a lot more installs of the Classic Editor plugin coming, just because of this normal hesitance to jump on a new software feature out of the gate.
