Show HN: Find work in NYC that is convenient

I've been working on a site that helps you find in-person work in NYC that is actually convenient for you.

I cofounded a remote startup in 2021 that I ended up leaving after a few years because I found the remote culture to be very isolating and I didn't feel like it would lead to us building a successful company. I wanted to work closely with people who I could learn from and enjoy the day with.

When I was looking around for my next opportunity, I found it frustrating that I had no way to filter for jobs that were close to where I live. I find restaurants, apartments, and things to do in NYC by looking at a map so why shouldn't I be able to find a job, the place I go to most frequently, on a map as well?

Many companies have started implementing return to office policies that unfortunately don't make sense for a lot of their employees and many early stage startups are only hiring in-person/hybrid roles. I thought that a tool like this would help those companies find talent that wants to work in person and allow job seekers to index on location in a way they haven't able to before.

I recognize that in-person/hybrid work isn't for everybody and I'm not here to claim it's better than remote work. I just wanted to build this site to give people the power to find good jobs, companies, and teams that are convenient for them.

Can exercise make you happy, not as an end result, but while doing it?

Exercise is movement for the sake of movement, because science says, movement in certain ways was healthy.

In other words: run to lose weight, because that's healthy. Lift weights to build muscle, because that's healthy. Move exactly along this line for this amount of repetitions to maximise the amount of muscle you build. Rest for exactly this amount of time. You have no reason to take the stairs other than it being healthy. And on it goes.

Fun is not part of this equation so far, only conscientiousness.

If you message my instagram account it will try to match you with other people messaging it. It works by comparing conversations one by one with chatgpt until a match is found. Not very efficient of course but I think I can get better results than a search. And if you can match with a certain quality, I think you can have a kind of recommendation-only social network where you don’t have to broadcast to a bunch of people to get connected.
