With all the recent scandals and lack of accountability and checks and balances in place, it seems inevitable that regulation is coming to Facebook.
The Senate hearings have shown that those in positions to do something in the government have a knowledge gap - both in terms of technical and business acumen. I suspect they have mainly been taking most commitments 'to do better' on face value.
What are some challenges in regulating Facebook? What should a strong and effective regulatory framework look at?
PS: I also think Google and Amazon are going that way. But their models differ from Facebook. I would also like to know how the picture would look like for them.
