Ask HN: Why is YouTube's playlist algorithm so nonsensical?

In the past ±year I've noticed that YouTube's automatic "Up Next" algorithm has become entirely unusable. If I'm watching Video: Part 1, the next video, Part 2, isn't even listed in the playlist. I have to go search for it on the uploader's page.

Why is this? Does breaking a natural playlist flow increase ad revenue?
