Ask HN: Is it possible to work remotely on an H-4 visa?

Has anyone here been in the US under an H-4 visa, working remotely, getting paid in a different country, successfully?

It's my understanding that this is not allowed, but I'm trying to understand whether this is actually enforced and how.
